Effective date: June 12, 2026
JPop Sensei ("the extension") helps you learn Japanese by displaying time-synced lyrics, furigana, and translations next to music videos. This policy explains what information the extension handles. The short version: we do not collect, store, or sell any personal data. The extension has no analytics, no tracking, and no server of our own.
The extension saves the following locally in your browser using
Chrome's storage API, and nowhere else:
This data never leaves your device, is not visible to us, and is removed if you uninstall the extension or clear extension data.
To do its job, the extension contacts two third-party services. Requests are made only in direct response to your activity:
Neither request includes your identity, browsing history, or any account information. These services receive only the song/lyric text needed to answer the request, along with standard technical information any web server receives (such as IP address). Their own privacy policies govern their handling of requests: lrclib.net, Google.
The extension's panel may show an optional donation link (e.g. PayPal). Clicking it simply opens the payment provider's website in a new tab; any payment is handled entirely by that provider under its own terms and privacy policy. The extension itself processes no payment information.

If a future version of the extension changes how data is handled (for example, adding an optional account feature), this policy will be updated and the effective date above revised before that version is released.
